EDELMAN’S LITTLE GIVE GIVES TO KUPE ARTS SOCIETY

Established in 2008, “The Little Give” is Edelman Canada’s annual corporate social responsibility initiative that dedicates a little bit of seed money and a whole lot of time and energy to worthy non-profit organizations working to make a difference in the lives of children and youth.

Over a 48-hour period starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, Edelman Toronto staff will be divided into ten teams and tasked with creating something great for the selected non-profit partners. The winner will be the team that makes the biggest impact – measured by criteria such as success in leveraging Edelman’s cash contribution, bringing attention to the non-profit’s mission, and making a difference in the everyday lives of children.

KUPE Arts Society is pleased to announce that we are one of Edelman’s chosen non-profit organizations for their 2010 Little Give!

OUTSIDE THE BOX STUDENTS RECORD K’NAAN’S WAVIN’ FLAG & BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH’S WALLS FALL DOWN

After only 8 weeks of being taught keyboards, guitar, drums and vocals by our volunteer local musicians, students with little to no background in music will record their version of “Wavin’ Flag” by K’naan and “Walls Fall Down” by Bedouin Soundclash. KUPE Arts Society presents, the Outside The Box {OTB} free music education program’s end of semester recording day; June 2nd and 3rd 2010 from 4:00pm to 8:30pm at the Masaryk-Cowan Community Centre located at 220 Cowan Ave., just east of Queen & Dufferin.

“…it’s so important that kids in these underserved communities have an opportunity to explore music education and be exposed to the arts in an accessible way. Recording day is a source of pride for our students as they get to pull together what they’ve learned over the semester and create something that is uniquely theirs – a product of their commitment, their interest and our passion for music…” says Sway, Founder and President of KUPE Arts Society.
